Activities of Ekipedia
Transportation, elevators, and more are increasingly barrier-free. However, a guide and software for anyone and everyone to use barrier-free safely has been long overdue.
The Ekipedia project tackles to publicly disseminate such a guide and information.
Transportation sytems of main cities are not standardized but we issue standardized information for them that anyone can easily understand.Town Guidance Support Network NPO, has been fostering the project for everyone since 2006, and has made the Ekipedia Map for everyone to easily understand how to proceed to their destination.
Nine main cities in Japan all have the same Ekipedia Map showing all subway stations. Currently, facilities and convenient updated information can be seen any time on the Web as well as in pamphlets and mobile apps. The underground and above ground city center and district areas are also easy to understand on the Terminal Map.
The universal Ekipedia guide system caters for people with or without disabilities, the aged, the colorblind, business people, tourists etc.
In 2010 Ekipedia won the Good Design Award for its public service system and the IAUD (International Association of Universal Design) award of excellence.
The Ekipedia project brand is a barrier-free Town Guidance Support Network NPO for major terminals and all subway stations making it easy to find your way.
Ekipedia Map is the simply expressed 3D station map of barrier-free facilities and routes.
